Resources and Recommendation

Cheap and cheerful, this is the motto I live by. I hate to waste money and I am always looking for simple and inexpensive services, products and companies. So I thought I would put together a resource page to share some of these with you. I have personally used or have read and researched these while I have been retoring my house here in France and writing this blog. I will add more resources as and when I discover useful and helpful ways you can save money, time and gain knowledge.

Some of the below are affiliated links, though clicking on any of the adverts, links or buying any of the recommended products,  will not cost you anymore by doing so. I recommend them because they are helpful and useful.

The Morvan have some of the most amazing unique, historic, romantic, and rustic gites (holiday homes) for a holiday stay or weekend break, where you can enjoy and explore the region. I have featured some here on Morvan Ladies and one thing they all have in common is they belong to Airbnb booking platform.

Staying in an Airbnb rental can be a great way to save money on your holiday accommodation and the choice is amazing all over the world.

During your stay in Burgundy enjoy the stunning scenary from a  Hot Air Ballon. Fly over the celebrated vineyards of the wine are, the spectacular medieval hilltop town of Vezelay and the villages of the of the Parc du Morvan Nature Reserve.  France Montgolfieres offer a variety of balloon packages.

There is a lot of domains and hosting companies out there to choose from. It took me trial and error, but I final found the two I would have no hesitation to recommend. They are both easy to use and quick to set up.

I have used GoDaddy for domain name registration and web-hosting. Once you have decided on a name for your blog you need to check domain availability. Its easy with GoDaddy just choose your country, language and currency. Searching for a domain, you have so many choices now with loads of new domain extensions. It’s not just ‘.com’ anymore so take your time to pick that perfect name.

Another hosting company I use and recommend is Bluehost, it’s affordable and easy to use. You get a free domain name for the first year when you set up a12 month hosting package. Bluehost has three main hosting plans to choose from, depending on your needs. If you are starting out and want to self host your blog then I would advise using their “Starter” package.

What is WordPress ? It’s a free, web-based software program that is easy to use when building and maintaining a blog. Now you have decided on your domain name you have two choices. WordPress .org, this one you self host say on Bluehost or GoDaddy, and pay a monthly hosting fee. on the other hand takes care of the hosting for you, so you don’t pay a monthly hosting fee or manage a web server.

Now what’s the difference and what fills your needs.

Its free and easy to set up, but limited on space and customization option. Your domain name will include “yourname/” If your blog becomes popular, switching to WordPress, org requires moving your blog and obtaining a new domain name and URL address. does not allow you to include advertisements of any kind.

You have to pay for the domain and hosting unless you use Bluehost whereby you get a domain name which is free for the first year when you set up a12 month hosting package. Self hosting is much more flexible as you can upload pictures, videos and music. It gives you much more control over your blog and content. allows you to monetize your blog.

Is simply the fastest, easiest and most affordable way to a beautiful, custom designed logo. Start you contest for a little as $29.00.

Tokn App

I just found this app and I love it. As I am always working on my own it’s perfect when I am up a ladder on my own. Leave a note with Tokn when you’re doing something risky or you’re vulnerable. If you don’t get back when you said you would, Tokn will let a friend know where you are and that you may need help. Even if your phone is dead.
